Erasmus+ Europe

Erasmus+ is an exchange programme of the European Union which makes it possible for Masaryk University students to study at a wide range of European universities. Each department and faculty has in its offer various partner universities in Europe. You can obtain further information from the website of the department/faculty or from the departmental/faculty coordinator. You can also read about experiences of students with the Erasmus programme and partner universities.

Masaryk University provides students on study placements with a grant of 480 to 600 euros per month depending on which country they go to.

Study placements can take place only in countries included in the Erasmus+ programme (further only programme countries). These are the following countries:

  • the twenty-seven member states of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden)
  • the countries of the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein)
  • also Türkiye, North Macedonia, Serbia, Switzerland
  • placements in the United Kingdom: If the department/faculty has a valid inter-institutional agreement with a university in the UK, it is possible to go on an Erasmus+ study placement in the following years. No visa is required for placements shorter than 6 months.

Participation Conditions

The Erasmus+ study placement is open to a student who:

  • is enrolled on an accredited bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral study programme at MU – full-time, combined or distance forms of studies
  • is a citizen of one of the programme countries or is a citizen of another country but is studying in the programme country in an accredited programme of study, in any year
  • throughout the period of their placement is enrolled in studies at the faculty/department through which the placement was organised, and the studies may not be ended or interrupted.
  • has been selected in a duly announced selection procedure
  • fulfils the Qualification Conditions of the Erasmus+ Programme (which you can find in the Documents section)
  • wishes the study placement to be in their Country of Origin receives the lowest priority during the selection procedure and is given the status of a zero-grant student, i.e. is not entitled to receive the financial support
  • is not travelling to their Country of Residence
  • not studying in the Czech Republic under the Erasmus+ / Erasmus Mundus / Erasmus+ ICM programme

 

Study placement conditions:

  • a study placement can take place only on the basis of a valid inter-institutional agreement between the relevant faculty/department of MU and the host institution
  • the length of the study placement is 12 months at maximum (note the long master’s programmes, see the Qualification Conditions in the Documents for more information), previous mobility (study and work placements) count towards this period.
    • Although repeated Erasmus+ placements are possible, they may be assessed on the basis of the preferences announced in the selection procedure for a given academic year, given the limited funding allocated by the European Commission for this activity.
  • the duration of the study stay is min. 2 and max. 12 months
    • From the academic year 2020/2021 it is also possible to carry out an online mobility or a blended mobility (a combination of online and physical mobility). Such mobilities will be recognized into the individual studies. In the case of combined mobility, the physical part of the mobility must meet the minimum duration requirement of the Erasmus+ rules (2 months). In case of a force majeure situation (duly justified and documented), the duration of the physical mobility may be reduced or cancelled and replaced by an extension of the virtual mobility period.
    • The period of online mobility is not financially supported by Erasmus+ financial supposer is only granted for the period the physical mobility.
  • a condition for the successful completion of the foreign study placement is the gaining of at least 20 ECTS credits for a semester of study at the host institution
